I'm kinda bored and want to play some games on my machine. Are there any good and free linux games available? I would prefer some fast servers as download source though ;) Thanks, Gnome |

The Linux Gaming world is not that big. In the past year alone the rate of Linux Desktop Users is on the rise. We are still only at at 10% - 15% of the computer world. One of Linus's biggest things with the Linux kernel for the 2012 / 2013 year is to support more hardware, hit the graphics side hard, and market to the Linux Gaming World. Look up Linus's issue with Nvidia, and you will understand more. The improvements have been set in place, we just have to sit back and wait, unless your a developer who is willing to donate time to the development of the Linux Kernel. Here is some information on Linux Gaming: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux_gaming A Small List of Linux Games: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Linux_games A Google Search of Linux Games: http://tinyurl.com/Linux-Games-Search Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. - Ferris Bueller |

There is almost any kind of game you could imagine. Gnome-games collection has a wide variety of somewhat simpler games (sudoku, othello, 5-in-line come to mind) If you like Go (a Japanese game), there is cgoban, available at http://cgoban1.sourceforge.net/, if it is not already available in your favorite distro. It is playable alone against the computer, or on line via various networks. It is a really nice board game with a system of handicaps for various skill levels. And of course there is always gnu chess, if you would like a challenge ... |

The FPS genre is also well represented on linux: Urban terror, Warsow, Redeclipse, Openarena.... If you are using Ubuntu, you can use this repository http://www.playdeb.net . If not, it still provides a nice list of what's available for every type of game. |

Here is another game that just came in mind: The Battle for Wesnoth. It is a Free, turn-based tactical strategy game. You can find it at: http://www.wesnoth.org/ |
