First of all you will need to install sendmail and webmin on some server. I'm asuming your server has a static IP and it's not behind a NAT.

The installation of sendmail and webmin do differ slightly depending on the Linux flavor you are using, each of those 2 packages has dependancies onto further packages, so the exact procedure really differs from OS to OS.

Eventually you can provide more details on these points (e.g. exact OS used, progress of package installation, type of internet connectivity of your server, etc).

Once you have sendmail configured, you will need to change the MX record for the domain which emails you want to handle on the new server.

Howto apply this change really depends on the amount and the kind of control you have over the DNS settings of your domain. Depending on the hosting company you may not be allowed to change the MX records.

So if you could provide some more details on that as well, this help alot.

HI and thanks for responding I have centos 5 and sendmail and webmin is installed I was able to sent an email out though the terminal. i also installed fetchmail thinking its needed to bring mail into the server ???

I have a cable modem and it is behind a router. I think i understand the dns and mx records ill talk to my provider to go about making changes.

so if i had a domain nathanstest.com (nate@nathanstest.com)and bob@nathanstest.com how would i set that up using webmin for receiving and sending emails. so that outlook, or evalution can get emails from the server

thanks for all your help nathan
